• Assembly passes vote of confidence on House leadership

A member of Enugu State House of Assembly representing Nkanu East Constituency, Hon. Paul Nnajiofor has called on the people of Enugu State to support Rt. Hon. Ifenayi Ugwuanyi, governor of Enugu State to actualize his four points agenda in the state. Nnajiofor, the House Committee Chairman on Information, said Gov. Ugwuanyi has proved his readiness to take the state to an enviable height having performed well in the last one year in office. He called on the people of Enugu to give the performing governor the maximum support to embark on more projects across the state.
The law maker who made the call while speaking on Ugwuanyi’s one year in office, he urged all and sundry to support his administration whole-heartedly and pay their taxes accordingly. He pleaded with the public to avoid vandalizing public utilities in other not to create additional expenses to the government. “My advice is that the people should support the governor and other leaders in the state. They should also pay their taxes and avoid vandalizing public utilities” he advised. He suggested that Gov. Ugwuanyi should be given a national ambassador award for good governance for his sterling leadership qualities. “I am saying that His Excellency, Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi should be given a national ambassador award for good governance. He is a pivotal promoter and advocate of good governance.
“He is an epitome of excellent service. Gov. Ugwuanyi has done very well. How I wish that the Federal Government can come here (Enugu) and spend one month under Gov. Ugwuanyi to understand what it means to be a leader,” Nnajiofor praises.
Continuing, Nnajiofor continues to pour encomiums on Gov. Ugwuanyi thus: “Ugwuanyi is a leader for the people and a hope for the hopeless, succour to those that are suffering.”
He anchored his encomiums on Gov. Ugwuanyi because to him, he had kept his campaign promises.
According to him, Ugwuanyi has done well in the area of physical infrastructure such as roads, bridges and human empowerment.
He hailed Ugwuanyi for particularly for ensuring prompt and regular payment of workers salaries in both the civil and public service.
“In specific terms, he has done more than eight roads in just one year and these are verifiable. He has continued to maintain payment of salaries for public and civil servants in the state.
On the relationship between the legislature and the executive, Nnajiofor said that it is very cordial; in his words, “very harmonious.”
He said that the harmonious relationship existing between the executive controlled by Ugwuanyi and the state assembly is cordial because was a former law maker himself and understands what law making entails.
“As a former member of the House of Representatives, he knows everything that supposes to be done at the right time,” he said.
Meanwhile the Enugu State House of Assembly at a plenary session, passed vote of confidence on the Speaker of the House, Hon. Edward Uchenna Ubosi and five other principal members of the House.

Contributing to a motion moved by Hon. Nelson Uduji of Awgu South Constituency on the leadership qualities of the principal officers in the past one year of robust legislative activities, members spoke glowingly on how the Speaker has led the House since inauguration and passed vote of confidence on them.
Mover of the motion, Uduji, commended the speaker and said that he had done well and deserved a pat on the back.
“Congratulations to all of us. I make bold to say that the House under Hon. Ubosi has done creditably well,” Uduji said.
He expressed happiness that Ubosi who said that he was a novice when he was elected speaker was able to pilot the affairs of the Assembly creditably in the past one year and sort the cooperation of his colleagues with the speaker for a better tomorrow.
Before passing the vote of confidence on the House leader, Speaker, Ubosi had reeled out the achievements of the House since it was inaugurated on June 8, 2015.
According to the Speaker, the House made a litany of achievements which include the passage of 9 bills out of 16 bills presented before the House.
The House within the period also received 22 resolutions including the confirmation of the various political appointments by the state governor as well as passed resolutions authorising the state government to obtain loans to facilitate the development agenda of the present administration among other things, the Speaker enumerated.
