It isn’t politics, it’s foolishness to sit in Lagos, Port Harcourt, and demand power, says el-Rufai
Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai has made it clear, like his counterpart have, that the north is against power shifting to the south.
According to him, the stand of the northern governors is that it is not in the constitution.
“We are not saying there cannot be rotational presidency, it can be done but you have to come and sit with the politicians in the north and dialogue and then we agree to give our support to the south,” the governor told some journalists September 27.
He said no one has the right to sit in Lagos or Port Harcourt and say whether northerners want it or not, they must relinquish power to the south.
Ondo Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu recenty insisted power shifting to the south, according to the position of the southern governors’ forum, is in the interest of justice, and that the south will have none of it if the north presents next president.
“That is wrong,” said el-Rufai, a former ally of the Ondo governor.
“It is not how we do politics. In fact, it is foolish.”
The nation is currently heating up as the two blocks of governors trash each other in the lead up to the 2023 presidential election.
