Insecurity: Hunters embark on military training to fight bandits, kidnappers, others
Hunters in Nigeria may have commenced military training to empower them confront bandits, kidnappers, terrorists across the country. The Nigerian Hunters Council a four-day Security Summit for Officers and Men of the Nigeria Hunters Council from the 36 States of the Federation and the FCT, in Abuja, disclosed that members of the hunters Council have been on capacity training to enhancing their effectiveness in protecting lives and property in rural communities across the country.
The Commander General of the Council, Joshua Osatimehin, assured that the Hunters in Nigeria will continue to support the country’s security agencies in the battle against bandits, Boko Haram terrorists, kidnappers, and others in any part of Nigeria.
Chairman of Senate Committee on Interior, Senator Kazzim Shetima, in a statement at the Nigerian Hunters Council National Summit towards Improving Internal Security System In Nigeria, acknowledged the efforts of the Council in combating insurgency, banditry and other forms of criminalities, especially in the Northern part of the country, which he said are commendable.
Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State also acknowledged that members of the Nigerian Hunters Council have been supportive in the fight against insecurity in and around the 36 states. He promised that the Borno State Government will continue to provide necessary logistics support to the Council.
A representative of the Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Deputy Commandant in charge of Private Security Guard, Chinedu Igboe; and Gwagwalada Area Commander of Nigeria Police Force, Zainab Ibrahim, representative of the FCT Commissioner of Police, in their goodwill messages, assured of continuous collaboration with the Nigerian Hunters Council in protecting lives and property across the country.
