How blind woman detected burglars, got one arrested in her home
Mrs Roseline Aiguh cannot see but she knows when an intruder trespasses, what their intention is.
When 39-year-old Adewale Oladeji and his partner in crime wanted to take advantage of her at No 5, Ebunoluwa, Okoo, Ojo, Lagos, on Nov. 11, she made them goof.
Oladeji is now in custody, looking for N100, 000 and sureties to bail him from detention, and arraignment for a three-count charge.
What they took from roseline were an android phone that was worth N50, 000 and N5,000 cash.
The prosecutor, Asp. Simeon Uche, told the court the defendant and his accomplice, who is currently on the run, had broken into the home of Aiguh, thinking she was away.
While Adedeji staked out the house, his accomplice broke into the house and stole the phone and the cash.
Uche said Roseline, from her bedroom, noticed unusual movements in her house.
She knew it was a thief, even without seeing him.
So the blind woman shouted and alerted neighbours who chased and caught Adedeji while his partner went through the roof to escape.
The offences contravened the provisions of sections 287, 307 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Adedeji said he wasn’t guilty.
Magistrate Ademola Adesanya granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Jan. 21, 2022 for mention.
