It is no longer news that security operatives have apprehended the fleeing driver of the BRT bus in which 22-year-old Oluwabamise Ayanwole was allegedly abducted a few days ago.
You may recall that upon learning of the victim’s disappearance, the Lagos State Police Command launched a manhunt for the fleeing driver, who had vanished after Bamise’s voice notes sent to her friend on that fateful day, went viral on social media.
The driver, identified as Andrew Omininikoron, aged 45, was later arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) at his hideout in Ogun State.

Subsequent to his arrest, two videos showing Andrew giving an account of what transpired on the day Bamise went missing after boarding his bus, surfaced on social media.
What is baffling, however, is that the BRT driver gave contradicting narratives on both occasions.
In the first confession which he gave while being questioned by security operatives, Andrew claimed Bamise threw herself off the bus after he forcefully had carnal knowledge with her. He said he ran away because he became afraid due to the “dirty acts” he carried out against the victim.
Just when it appeared that the case had been solved as a result of Andrew admitting to the crime, the suspect changed his story completely.

Speaking to a news correspondent on Monday, Andrew denied having a hand in Bamise’s death. He claimed that three men who boarded the vehicle along the way were responsible for the abduction and killing of the 22-year-old.
The BRT driver said the men had threatened him with a weapon and he became afraid.
When asked why he ran away after the incident, Andrew claimed he was scared because he felt helpless while the men were dragging the lady off the bus at Carter bridge.
