Ajah cult killing: Video raises fresh questions over alleged Eiye trap [VIDEO]
A newly obtained video has raised fresh questions over the circumstances surrounding the reported killing of a young man identified as Biola at Ajah, Lagos State, amid allegations that suspected rival cultists may have disguised themselves as members of his own group to lure him into a deadly encounter.
The video, reportedly obtained by Naija Confra, shows Biola identifying himself as a member of the Eiye confraternity while speaking to individuals believed to be suspected rival cultists.
The development has introduced a new dimension to the incident, with questions emerging over whether the victim was deliberately deceived into approaching the assailants after they allegedly presented themselves as fellow Eiye members.
Naija Confra had earlier reported that the incident occurred at about 6pm on October 4 around DKK Bus Stop, close to Blenco in Ajah.
According to eyewitness accounts cited in the report, some boys allegedly shot Biola before attacking him further.
The witnesses claimed the attackers allegedly attempted to mutilate the victim in broad daylight, including cutting off one of his hands and trying to remove other body parts.
The alleged attackers were said to have abandoned the scene after attracting the attention of people in the area.
The circumstances surrounding the reported mutilation could not be independently verified, and there was no immediate official confirmation from the Lagos State Police Command linking the incident to a particular cult group.
The reported killing comes amid renewed concerns over cult-related violence in parts of Lagos, particularly communities along the Ajah–Lekki corridor. Recent incidents in Ajah and surrounding communities have been linked in media reports to clashes involving rival confraternities.
In June, the Lagos State Police Command said it had commenced investigations into separate suspected cult-related killings in Sangotedo, Ajah and Ikotun.
The latest video is therefore likely to form part of efforts to establish what happened before Biola was killed, who the assailants were and whether the attack was a planned ambush.
Security authorities are expected to determine the identities of those seen in the footage and establish whether the killing was connected to an ongoing rivalry between cult groups in the area.
