Presidency 2023: Gov. Makinde promises total support for PDP candidate
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State hosting Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State, a presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), at the Oyo State Government House, Agodi, Ibadan, assured that the PDP in Oyo State will support and work with whosoever emerges the presidential candidate of the party for the 2023 general elections.
Governor Udom Emmanuel was in Ibadan to seeks the support of PDP delegates from the Southwest Nigeria at the party’s presidential primaries.
The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Makinde, Taiwo Adisa, in a statement indicated that the Oyo governor assured that all PDP stakeholders will support whoever God gives to the party and work together to rescue Nigeria. The CPS added that the governor emphasised that the consultation across the country by the presidential aspirants shows the strengthening of internal democracy in the PDP. The governor maintained that the PDP has left the old order in which aspirants undermine delegates and hang on to political godfathers for endorsement.
The Governor said that democracy is becoming more deep rooted in the PDP as aspirants engage in wide consultations and mobilization for popular consent of party members in the contest for PDP tickets.
