APC female Reps aspirant empowers market women
A House of Representatives aspirant for Offa, Oyun and Ifelodun Federal Constituency, Mrs Yewande Mobolaji-Dauda, has empowered no fewer than 40 traders in Oro-Ago town of Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara.
Mobolaji-Dauda, an aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), while presenting an undisclosed amount to the beneficiaries on Sunday, said she discovered that a lot of people needed little support to boost their trade.
She appealed to the beneficiaries “not to see the token as small but rather make judicious use of it so that they could help boost the local economy”.
“When I come home and go to the market, I noticed that some people trade with items less than N10,000 and they send children to school with it.
“This is where I drew my inspiration to give to the society that produced me; I feel that with a little support, we can produce more people going into trading or support their existing business.
“This is not only about politics yet but about humanity, considering that the country is hard at the moment,” Mobolaji-Dauda said.
Also, the President of Oro-Ago Development Union (ODU), Mr Olawole Ayoku, appealed to other wealthy individuals from the community to emulate Mobolaji-Dauda.
He said it was a challenge to everyone, and appealed to sons and daughters of the community not to forget their root, as only a collective responsibility could further the development of the town.
Responding, a beneficiary, Ruth Ajise, commended the aspirant for the gesture.
Another beneficiary, Titilayo Arowolo, described the aspirant as “a friend of the masses, who the community women will always get behind at all times”.
In appreciation to her commitment to the growth and development of the town, Mobolaji-Dauda was installed as the Yeye Mesho (fashion face) of Oro-Ago Kingdom on Saturday.
