‘We’ve done our best,’ Kwankwaso says amidst report of Shekarau’s exit from NNPP.
NNPP’s presidential candidate Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has explained he has tried his best to honour all but one agreement his party had with APC drop-in Sen. Ibrahim Shekarau.
He spoke with the BBC Hausa service on Wednesday following media reports Shekarau and his camp are on their way out of the NNPP.
“There is no agreement that was not fulfilled other than that of contestants. We have tried our best to honour the agreement but time couldn’t permit us.”
According to him, most of the people Shekarau brought to get tickets for elective positions joined the NNPP at a time when INEC would not accept their candidacy.
He said that if the party wins the election and forms a government, Shekarau’s associates would get more prestigious positions.
This problem, he noted, would not cause any problem in the NNPP, confirming that there is no problem between him and Shekarau.
The APC and PDP are still talking with the former Kano governor in the hope he could consider their offer.
