Police, terrorists clash leaves one dead, weapons, others recovered
Katsina State Police Command officers stormed a terrorists’ hideout at Unguwar Maizuma village in Danja LGA, killed one, arrested their informant, and recovered weapons.
SP Gambo Isah, command’s spokesperson, said this in a statement on Sunday, August 21, said several weapons along with two motorcycles and illicit substances suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered.
Isah added that a ring leader identified as Sule Dawa escaped with gunshot wounds during the raid.
“On 20/08/2022 at about 0730hrs, acting on credible intelligence that terrorists were sighted in a black spot at Maizuma village , Danja LGA of Katsina state, DPO Danja led a team of policemen to the area and engaged the hoodlums into a fierce gun duel,” the statement read
“In the course of scanning the hideout, the following exhibits were recovered: (1) locally fabricated gun, (2) military camouflage uniform, (3) machetes and Dagger, (4) one hundred (100) bottles and a gallon of Spirit (5) Some quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, (6) two Boxer motorcycles (7) three (3) car batteries (8) one Sewing machine, (9) Roll of cable wire, (10) two cooking gas cylinders
“One suspected informant to the terrorists was also arrested. It was reasonably suspected that the ring leader of the terror group, one Sule Dawa, escaped with fatal gunshots wound. The command is making efforts with view to arresting the gang leader and other members of the syndicate
“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina state Command CP Idrisu Dabban Dauda commended the officers efforts.
“He also urged members of the public to continue to cooperate with security agencies in the ongoing campaign against terrorism in the state,” the statement added.
