US Court fixes date for Hushpuppi’s sentencing, silent on extradition of Abba Kyari
The United States Attorney’s Office for Central District of California, Los Angeles, on Friday revealed that September 21, 2022 has been fixed for the sentencing of Ramon Abbas, aka, Hushpuppi, a convicted international internet fraudster, insisting that date remains unchanged.
The court’s Director of Media Relations, Thom Mrozek, on Friday stated that Hushpuppi pleaded guilty when the trial commenced in 2021, saying the sentencing would be done later in year 2022. “Mr. Abbas is currently scheduled to be sentenced by a federal judge in Los Angeles on September 21,” the director was cited to have said.
It will be recalled that Hushpuppi was convicted in 2021 for after pleading guilty to charges of $1.1 million fraud. The court had fixed February 14 for sentencing, shifted the date to July 11, and now shifted the date again to before September 21, 2022.
However, Mrozek said nothing about the extradition of DCP Abba Kyari, earlier requested by the US court after the indictment by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the Hushpuppi’s investigation.
