Ex-convict arrested hours after release from prison
Police operatives in Lagos State have arrested an ex-convict, Yakub Yusuf, for allegedly stealing valve covers of old fire trucks at the Lagos State Fire Service premises.
The 23-year-old suspect was apprehended last Saturday evening, November 12, hours after he was released from jail.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement on Thursday, November 17, said the suspect was convicted for stealing at a government fuel dump in Alausa, Ikeja, and was sentenced to one-month imprisonment on November 1, 2022 with an option of fine.
Less than two weeks into his term, a non-governmental organization facilitated his release by paying the fine on Friday, November 11.
Yakub was arrested again after breaking into Lagos State Fire Service premises from where he stole valve covers of old fire truck under repairs.
