Appeal Court restores PDP candidates in Ogun
The Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan on Monday upturned the judgment of the Federal High Court sititng in Abeokuta, Ogun State, nullified the nomination of all candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, ordering fresh primaries.
Justice Folasade Ojo in a judgment on Monday, declared that the judgment of the High Court was wrong, saying that only the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) has the power to conduct primaries.
Justice O O Oguntoyin of the high court had on September 27 nullified the primaries and directed the State Executive Committee of the PDP to conduct fresh primaries within 14 days.
On an existing suit, Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has fixed December 1, 2022 for judgment on the PDP 2023 governorship ticket in Ogun.
A governorship aspirant, Jimi Lawal, who lost at the primary, is challenging the nomination of Ladi Adebutu as the PDP governorship candidate for the 2023 general election.
