Presidency 2023: APC panic as northern elders reject Tinubu
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) showed signs of panic as Northern elders rejected the APC presidential candidate, Aswiaju Bola Tinubu, for the 2023 election.
The North West Presidential Campaign Council of the APC, in a statement on Sunday, expressed concerns over the statement by Northern Elders urging voters in the north not to vote for southern presidential candidates in the general election.
The spokesman of the APC North West Presidential Campaign Council, Muhammad Shehu Molash, in the statement defended Tinubu, saying he had constantly supported northern presidential candidates in past elections.
The APC had stated in part, “Our attention has been drawn to a widely circulated voice note of a supposedly northern elder, Alhaji Sani Zangon Daura, calling on Northerners to reject the presidential candidates of southern Nigeria’s extraction.
“The North West APC Presidential Campaign Council is, therefore, calling on Northerners to disregard the antics of these elders, who hide behind a bogus northern agenda, to promote their individual and self-serving interests.”
Also, Christian APC leaders in the north are also mobilising voters against the APC over the Muslim-Muslim ticket of Tinubu and Shettima.
