Osun Tribunal judgement contrary to the will of the people – PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday berated the Osun State Governorship Election Tribunal in its judgment, nullifying the July 16, 2022 governorship election won by the PDP candidate, Ademola Adeleke. The party declared that the judgement of the tribunal is contrary to the will of the peoples of Osun State who in majority decision, elected Adeleke at the polls.
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, in a statement in Abuja on Friday, maintained that the judgment of the Tribunal was contrary to the will of the people of Osun expressed by the overwhelming votes cast for the PDP and its candidate at the election. He asserted that domestic and international observers rated the Osun State governorship election held on July 16, 2022 to be free, fair, transparent.
The PDP National Publicity Secretary cautioned that the will of the peoples of Osun State in electing Adeleke governor must be respected, saying that the PDP will explore all legal means to retrieve the mandate.
Ologunagba declared, “The will of the people of Osun State as expressed by electing Governor Adeleke must be respected. As a law-abiding party, the PDP will explore all available legal means to restore the victory of our party.”
He appealed to the people of Osun State to “remain calm and continue to support Governor Adeleke as PDP restated its confidence in the Institution of the judiciary to dispense justice in this matter at the Court of Appeal.”
