Art’s finest converge for the Lagos Art And Fashion Gala

The event will showcase over 40 young designers and veteran artists like Polly Alakija and Adeola Balogun as well as photographers and sculptors.
December is set to witness a gathering of some of art and fashions finest as the maiden edition of the Lagos Art and Fashion Gala (LAFGA) holds.
The event which will hold on the 6th and 7th of December  will showcase over 40 young designers and veteran artists like Polly Alakija and Adeola Balogun as well as photographers and sculptors.
Speaking on the show, event coordinator Media Director, 21st Century Projects, Elohor Freeman said an unconventional approach was being taken to provide an atmosphere of freedom which will resonate with the creative spirit of African designers and artists.
The event will see participants from across the world including Amsterdam, Ivory Coast, Togo and London.
There will also be Coke Studio for young musicians, seminars, workshops and live music competitions aimed at encouraging artists and designers.

Wow! Jollof rice art exhibition set to hold at National Museum

Wolof-Jollof will be on display at the National Museum Onikan Lagos between 6th to 13th December, 2015 and the works will share with Nigerians several stories and tastes that emerge from the beloved dish.

If there ever was a de-facto Nigerian national dish, chances are it would be Jollof Rice, and curator Inês Valle alongside sculptor, Folakunle Oshun are set to explore this notion through art in an exhibition titled, Wolof-Jollof. Wolof-Jollof will be on display at the National Museum Onikan Lagos between 6th to 13th December, 2015 and the works will share with Nigerians several stories and tastes that emerge from the beloved dish. Furthermore, the exhibition which explores the popularity and migratory controversy of Jollof Rice, consists of a huge outdoor art installation of 70 unique 3-legged cooking pots mounted on wheels.
Some of said  pots will be used to cook Jollof recipes from across West Africa, which guests can have a chance to taste. As part of the exhibition, Oshun and Valle will travel through West Africa tracing the route and the varying recipes that make up Jollof Rice. The duo will also investigate the multi-layered, socio-local stories of this migrant dish as they journey though Benin, Togo, Ghana, Liberia, Mali, Gambia, and finally Senegal, where the original Thiebou Denn recipe is made by the Wolof tribe.
