Tinubu wins as INEC announces first presidential election result for Ekiti
The presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has won the only state which presidential result was announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday; Ekiti State.
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ekiti State, Ayobami Salami, announced the first state result of the 2023 presidential election at the collation centre at the International Conference Centre, Abuja on Sunday.
The result officially announced by the Ekiti REC showed that Tinubu of the APC had 210,494 votes, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had 89,554 votes.
The candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, got 11,397 votes, and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), 264 votes.
The Ekiti result was the only one received on Sunday on the Saturday presidential election. According to the National Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the commission expects the results from the other 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory to arrive before the resumption further collation at 11.00am on Monday. The National Collation Centre is, therefore, expected to reopen tomorrow morning at 11.
