The Nigerian Army has reiterated it commitment to clear terrorists from northwest Nigeria, insisting that the army will “not relent in its continuous efforts to clear terrorists from the North West region.”
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division, Nigerian Army Sokoto, Major General Godwin Mutkut, after Inaugurating RSM House at the 1 Brigade Cantonment, in Gusau, Zamfara State, said that the Army has been giving the terrorists a tough time, cautioning that the only option for the terrorists is to drop their arms and surrender to the troops, adding that the Army will not negotiate with terrorists.

Major General Mutkut noted that troops have been dislodging the terrorists from their hideouts in troubled locations like Zurmi, Shinkafi, Tsafe, Dansadau and other areas in Zamfara State, even in the rainy season.
According to General Mutkut, “before now there are plenty places that we have not entered but as it is now, despite the rain we are going places where the bandits are not expecting, giving them bloody nose, if they want to survive, they should just surrender.”
He stated that bandits are now attacking soft spots, especially, on the sight of innocent citizens in the villages or Highways,
General Mutkut had declared: “Nobody negotiated with them before they entered the bush, now that the fire is hitting them, they want to negotiate, well I won’t call it negotiation, they should just come out and surrender, negotiation is a trap; they have done it in the past and it did not yield any result, so why still repeating the same mistakes again.
“For now, we have advised all the district heads that they should form groups that can protect them before the military come to assist in case of distress.”
