Gabon military arrest son of ousted President Bongo ‘for treason’

The emergent military regime in Gabon has arrested one of the sons of ousted President Ali Bongo Ondimba for “treason”.
The military also placed the ousted president Bongo on house arrest, including some members of his family.
The coupists in a broadcast on State TV in the early hours of Wednesday, declared: “President Ali Bongo is under house arrest, surrounded by his family and doctors.”

The military in the broadcast nullified the result of the Saturday, August 26 election, which President Bongo was declared winner and returned for a third term, after 14 years in office.
The emergent military regime also dissolved all the institutions of the Republic, the parliament, and shut down Gabon’s borders, citing their actions to be on behalf of the country’s security and defence forces.

Meanwhile, citizens of Gabon, after watching the broadcast on Wednesday, took to the streets to celebration the military coup that ousted President Ali Bongo.
