Army intercept huge drug consignment in Ogun
Officers of the Nigerian Army, Commander 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Ogun State, have intercepted over 365 pieces of pawpaw-sized wrapped Cannabis Sativa, popularly known as Indian hemp, weighing about 176 kilograms.
The military men also arrested a 25-year-old suspected drug pusher, Fatai Bankole, in connection with the drugs.
The commander of the military formation, Brigadier General Mohammed Tajudeen Aminu, made this known in Abeokuta on Saturday while handing over the drugs to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, in the state.
The Army boss said the suspect, together with drugs, was arrested by troops on routine patrol at Olodo Imeko along Imeko-Abeokuta road in the state.

The Garrison Commander, Colonel Legborsi Deedum Nule, who represented the Commander, 35 Artillery Brigade, expressed the command’s commitment to sustaining all efforts in collaborating with other security agencies to rid the State of crimes.
He further said the Brigade’s commitment to ensuring troops maintain high standards and professionalism at all times in discharging their duties.
In his reaction, the Commandant, NDLEA Ogun State Command, Commander of Narcotics Jane Ibiba Odili, commended the effort of the Brigade and solicited more collaboration with the military, as well as other security agencies in the State.
