Foreigners indicted in Ibadan bomb explosion
The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has said the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC document belonging to a mining company responsible for Tuesday’s explosion in Ibadan showed some foreign names as owners.
The governor stated this on Wednesday when he featured on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
Governor Makinde also revealed that the death toll in the unfortunate blast had risen to three, stating that one more victim died in a hospital on Wednesday.
“We recovered one individual alive today (Wednesday) under the rubble. 60 of the 77 people hospitalised have been discharged,” the governor said.
“We are trying to uncover the identities of the people. We’ve done a few fact-finding on the company involved and yes, there are indeed some foreign names on the CAC documents of the company involved but these are still early days. We don’t have anything to cover,” he said.
The governor clarified that the incident had nothing to do with the terrorist attack, insisting that those operating illegal mining were responsible for the unfortunate incident.

“It is not anything that has to do with banditry and insurgency but illegal miners that stored explosives in a residential area,” the governor clarified.
Meanwhile, National Daily gathered from reliable sources that documents retrieved from the site revealed that a certain Malian immigrant, Sawane Youssouf who was allegedly into mining in the Oke-Ogun area of the state, has been stockpiling explosives in a house for years for the purpose of his extensive mining business.
It was learnt that he incorporated a company on May 17, 2004 called SDYB International Company Nigeria Limited with RC 511184 with himself, Darame Ibrahima; Yattara Ibrahi and Bakare Hakeem Oladimeji as directors.
Lots of documents were found strewn on the grounds of surrounding houses that reveal Sawane has been involved in several petitions to the police, particularly from the mining host communities in Iwajowa Local Government Area of Oyo State.
