Seyi Tinubu urges Nigerians to endure hunger, hardship

The son of the President, Seyi Tinubu, in a social media message, urged Nigerians to endure hunger, starvation and hardship precipitated by the policy decisions of President Bola Tinubu in the removal of petrol subsidy and floating of the exchange rate of the Naira.

He felt the burdens had been borne years back and that today’s difficulties do not exist.

Seyi, then, declared: “But we must endure if we are to reach the good side of our future.”

The statement read:

“there is no joy in seeing the people of this nation shoulder burdens that should have been shed years ago. I wish today’s difficulties did not exist. But we must endure if we are to reach the good side of our future,” – President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola A. Tinubu.

Meanwhile, the incumbent President was among the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who mobilised Nigerians to “OCCUPY Nigeria” in 2014 when former President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) increased the pump price of petrol to N150 per litre, and declared that subsidy had been removed from petrol.

That action in 2014 compelled the government to back down on the subsidy removal which has become the burden of hardship in 2024, over 10 years later, when it was eventually removed by President Tinubu on May 29, 2023.
