Reduce size of govt appointees — Group advised FG, states
The Osun Mastermind, an Osun based group, has called for the reduction in size of government political appointees.
The group also added that applying this measure across all levels will save cost and reduce expenditures.
The group’ s Executive Director, Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, made this known to newsmen on Tuesday in Osogbo.
Oyedokun-Alli said government must take the initiative to trim down the large numbers of political appointees both at the federal and state level .
The group’ s Executive Director Oyedokun-Alli said there are more than 3000 legislative aides at the national assembly which had worsened the present economic realities by raising cost of governance.
He said that reducing the cost of governance should not be on the Nation’s Civil Service alone already overbloated due to duplications of functions by Ministries , Departments and Agencies but also the Nation’s Public Services.
“We must take the issue of reducing cost of governance further by reducing the numbers of ministers, special advisers and senior special assistants to both the state and federal government.

The group’ s Executive Director further called for the reopening of court premises in the state and also government finding lasting solution to the issue of illegal mining in the state.
The Executive Director appealed to Osun government to ensure that palliatives meant to cushioned the aftermath of fuel subsidy is adequately channeled for the purpose at which it was meant for.
