Hardship: 2 NSUK students killed, others injured in stampede for palliative
No fewer than two students of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) have been reportedly trampled to death during a struggle to get palliative provided by the state government to cushion the effect of the ongoing economic hardship in the country
It was gathered that several students also sustained various degrees of injures in the stampede that occurred at the school’s Convocation Square on March 22, 2024
The state governor, Abdullahi Audu Sule had recently flagged off the distribution of 2 bags of 7.5kg rice & ₦5,000 each as palliative to students of the State in tertiary institutions
However, according to a student of the school, his colleagues went against the instruction from the school’s management to wait until their convocation for the distribution of the palliative
The students were said to had stormed the school’s Convocation Square, where the palliative were stored, & forced their way in leading to the stampede
