Ogun multiple road crashes claim six lives

Multiple road accidents across Ogun State have claimed the lives of six persons, the crashes reportedly occurred along different road corridors in Ogun State on Monday morning.

The first crash according to a statement issued by the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Ogun Sector Command spokesperson, Florence Okpe, took place in the early hours of the day, at about 3.40 am.

It was learnt that the crash happened on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, around Fidiwo, involving four persons.

They were reported to be all male adults.

Two were reported dead while the other two sustained injuries

The accident involved a Toyota bus with registration number GBJ915XA Toyota bus and a Golf car with no registration number.

“The suspected cause of the accident was attributed to wrongful overtaking, speed which led to loss of control and crash.”

The second crash was said to have happened at about 5.18 am on Ore-Ijebu-Ode section of the expressway after Ajede junction.

“Only one vehicle, a Toyota HiAce bus conveying 20 passengers was involved.

Three persons died in the accident, two male and one female child, while the cause of the lone crash was speed and fatigue.”

The third crash occurred on the Ore-Ijebu-Ode expressway after the Ajebamidele bridge.

“29 people were involved (17 male adults and 12 female adults) 02 persons were injured and 01 male adult was recorded dead while 26 people were unhurt

“Two vehicles involved were an IVECO Truck with registration number TRE 265 XB and a Luxury bus with no number on it.”

The Sector Commander FRSC Ogun Sector Command, Anthony Uga, advised motorists to drive cautiously and have enough rest to avoid fatigue.
