Shaibu cries out over impeachment as Edo Deputy Governor
The former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, on Monday, cried out over his impeachment by the Edo State House of Assembly.
According to him, the impeachment which he said is illegal, “is a threat to the nation’s democracy.”
He protested that the impeachment was a “flagrant abuse of power” by the Edo State House of Assembly.
Meanwhile, Governor Godwin Obaseki on Monday appointed Omobayo Godwins, 37 years old, as new Deputy Governor after the impeachment Philip Shaibu by the Edo State House of Assembly.
The new deputy governor was, accordingly, inaugurated at the Government House, Benin City.
The former deputy governor, however, stated that he was impeached by the State Assembly because of his governorship ambition.
