Edo 2024: Shaibu dares Obaseki, causes fresh crisis in PDP as candidate from parallel primary
Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu of Edo State has dared Governor Godwin Obaseki in the build up to the September 21, 2024 governorship election in the state. The Deputy Governor on Thursday organised a parallel primary election in Benin City where he was nominated the governorship candidate of the PDP in Edo State with over 301 votes to cause fresh crisis in the PDP.
Meanwhile, the main PDP governorship primary election is holding this Thursday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, where 10 aspirants are competing for the votes of 563 delegates for the PDP ticket towards the September 21 governorship election.
The 10 aspirants were identifed to include Deputy Governor Philip Shuaibu; a former Chairman of Sterling Bank, Asue Ighodalo; Blessing Igbinedion, daughter of Esama of Benin Kingdom, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion; Anselm Ojezua, Felix Akhabue, Martin Uhomoibhi, Hadizat Umoru, Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, Dr Earl Onaiwu and Arthur Esene.
