Obaseki vows to crack down on illegal borrow pit operations in Edo State
Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has expressed shock and dismay at the rampant illegal and illicit activities occurring at borrow pits in the Obagie N’ Evbosa axis, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area.
He condemned the operators’ disregard for law and order, stating that their actions pose a significant threat to the environment and neighboring communities.

Governor Obaseki warned that the government will exercise its full authority to halt these illegal operations, arresting and dealing with perpetrators, including federal mining officers who permit or authorize these activities. He demanded an immediate cessation of all illegal activities until agreements are reached on permissible borrowing areas.
The Governor’s stance aims to protect the environment and ensure the safety of nearby communities, signaling a crackdown on illegal borrow pit operations in Edo State.
