NDA holds shooting exercise, warns Kaduna residents
The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) is gearing up for a live-fire exercise designed to assess the combat skills of its newest cadets.
The NDA will be conducting a range classification exercise for cadets enrolled in Direct Short Service Course (DSSC) 28 (Army) and DSSC 32 (Air Force).
This exercise serves as a practical evaluation of their combat shooting abilities.
The exercise will take place from June 25th to June 28th at the NDA Open Range located in Afaka, Kaduna State.
The NDA prioritizes public safety during such exercises, Spokesperson Mohammed Maidawa assures the public that “all necessary safety measures have been put in place for the successful conduct of the exercise.”
Residents in the surrounding communities of Mando, Tsamiya, Kauya, and Afaka are advised to avoid the area during the exercise dates.
The NDA emphasizes the importance of staying clear of the designated range for their own safety.
The range classification exercise typically involves cadets firing live ammunition at designated targets under controlled conditions.

It allows instructors to assess their proficiency in weapon handling, marksmanship, and tactical decision-making in a simulated combat scenario.
Passing this exercise is a crucial step for cadets as they progress through their military training.
The DSSC programs offer a fast-track entry into the Nigerian Army and Air Force for qualified candidates.
These exercises equip them with the necessary skills and confidence to serve effectively on the front lines.
The overall significance of the live-fire exercise signifies the ongoing commitment of the NDA to train highly skilled and disciplined officers for the Nigerian Armed Forces.
