Rage of fury in Nigeria, protesters shut down businesses

The Ides of March evolved in Nigeria on Thursday, August 1, 2024, as Nigerians in millions took to the streets of major cities across the country to display a rage of fury over hardship and suffering imposed by governments.

In several parts of Lagos State, from Ogba to Ikeja environs, Ojodu-Berger, unto the exit and entrance points into Lagos from other states of the federation, the roads were deserted, shops were locked and businesses halted.

On the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, there scanty vehicles on the road on both sides of the corridor.
On major inner city roads and bug streets, people stayed away from commercial activities. Banks, offices, shopping plaza were securely locked.

The ever-busy JUSTRITE shopping malls were shut down and guarded by Police officers.

In in one of the protest scene, a man pulled off his clothes and led the protest nude. He lifted his shirts and pairs of trousers, on one hand, and his shoes on the other hand, raising them to sky as the protesters move in mass, chanting the usual solidarity anthem.

The demands to end hunger and hardship, bad governance in Nigeria was massive.

Traffic situation on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on protest day

The usual check points and traffic-control locations in the city of Lagos were empty, officials of LASTMA, VIO, Road Safety Corps, even police, were conspicuously absent from duty at the various checkpoints in the city.

Nigerians are successfully making their voices loudly heard by the various governments.

The rage of fury traverses the land across Nigeria. Security threats by the Police, Nigerian Army, and others failed to deter Nigerian citizens from the nationwide protest.

Unfortunately, the protest went violent in Kano, with destruction of infrastructures.

Participation in the hardship mass protest is massive in Gombe and other states.

Nigerians rise against bad governance

In Jos, Plateau State, a prophet, joined the protest, encouraged protesters to sustenance the #endbadgovernance declaring: “No retreat, No surrender”.
