Shehu Sani incurs anger of Nigerians over suspension of protest, dialogue
A leading human rights activist in Nigeria, Senator Shehu Sani, has incurred the anger of Nigerians over his statement that protesters should suspend protest and dialogue with the government after the broadcast of President Bola Tinubu on Sunday.
According to Shehu Sani @ShehuSani “after the President’s speech, the Protesters should suspend their protests and raise a team to dialogue with the Government at the Federal and state levels; there they can negotiate on their demands.
“That is how democracy works.”
However, angry stakeholders in the country scolded Shehu Sani, some questioning his human rights credential in the contemporary dispensation. Some others urging him to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
A stakeholder disagreed with Sani that that is not how democracy works, berating him over the assumption that he fought for democracy.
According to the stakeholder, @BolanleA4 “No, it’s not how democracy works.
“To think you were one of those who supposedly fought for democracy! omo, the masquerade has been unveiled.”
And another stakeholder challenged Sani, @Morris_Monye “Listen my friend, how can they suspend protests and dialogue with the President when the President did not even acknowledge or address any of the demands in that speech.
“You can’t dialogue when those you want to dialogue with don’t even acknowledge the problem.”
Another agitated: @EmirSirdam “Sir do you really know what democracy is all about?
“Did the Murder-in-Chief address the demands of Hungry Nigerians?
“One day the world will know what this criminal drug dealer and certificate forger has on all of you.”
This stakeholder simply stated @OfficialDadyA2 “Abeg join APC make we hear word.”
An agitating stakeholder expressed @Equity_ofs “Dem don trigger your release clause true true. Chai
“Make we catch you for road tomorrow.”
This stakeholder accused Shehu Sani of drifting from human rights activism.
According to the stakeholder, @Udoh_D “What substance was in that speech that indicates there will be any fruitful outcomes from the negotiations you propose?
“You have drifted so far from the common man. It’s unfortunate.”
Another ridiculed Sani, @BrightIykeIMO “Go and lead the dialogue team since you are a stranger in Mecca.”
In further ridicule, this stakeholder stated, @Nwafresh “President Tinubu should call Senator Shehu Sani and give him the opportunity to join APC just like he did with Daniel Bwala.
“He has danced enough Alingo to be recognized.”
In a seeming deep anger, this Nigerian declared, @vinosky01 “It’s shame that a serial protester like you is talking like this.
“This is the reason the little Hitler kicked you out of any political position in Kaduna.
“I know you’re hungry. But baba, Nobody can suspend this protest, unless hunger.”
