Oseni Rufai slams APC over $1M interview fee
Prominent journalist Oseni Rufai has sharply criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) for allegedly demanding $1 million from Arise TV to secure an interview with its Edo State governorship candidate.
In a statement on his X handle, Rufai condemned the request, arguing that such a large sum should be redirected toward community-focused initiatives.
He outlined alternative uses for the money, including building schools, establishing healthcare centers, offering loans to entrepreneurs, and supporting local farmers.
Rufai’s comments also highlight broader concerns about the ethics of monetizing political access and call for greater transparency in political practices.

Furthermore, Rufai noted that the money could also be used to support local agriculture through fertilizer donations to farmers.
He argued that these investments would significantly benefit the community and improve the quality of life for many people, rather than being used for a media interview.
However, his statement underscores a growing discontent with the political practice of monetizing access to candidates and raises questions about the ethics of such demands.
Rufai’s comments reflect a broader call for transparency and accountability in political engagements.
