Asue Ighodalo vows to transform Edo State, combat poverty, insecurity
Asue Ighodalo, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate for Edo State, has unveiled an ambitious plan to tackle poverty and insecurity while driving economic development.
Speaking at a Town Hall Meeting with Edo indigenes in Lagos, Ighodalo outlined his vision to recreate Edo as a model of good governance, focusing on agriculture, security, and economic empowerment.
Ighodalo emphasized his commitment to the democratic process, pledging that every vote in the upcoming September 21 election would be counted.
His manifesto, titled “The Pathway to Prosperity for All,” details plans to provide direct financial support to farmers, boost local crop production, and develop key industries like cashew nuts, palm oil, and rubber.

Ighodalo also addressed the high cost of living and expressed his intent to improve citizens’ well-being by tackling poverty from the grassroots level.
On security, he promised to equip federal agencies with modern tools to combat crime effectively.
With a focus on economic growth, Ighodalo proposed creating three economic zones in Edo to attract investors and enhance private sector participation.
Drawing inspiration from the economic successes of Nigeria’s First Republic, he envisions transforming Edo into a first-world state.
As the election approaches, Ighodalo called for fair media coverage and assured the protection of PDP votes through legitimate means.
His campaign resonates with a promise to reshape Edo into a prosperous and secure state, reflecting the aspirations of its people.
