Nigeria’s women’s youth team, the Falconets, secured a commanding 4-0 victory over Venezuela in their final group match at the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup on Saturday night.

The match, held at the Estadio Olímpico Pascual Guerrero, saw the Falconets dominate with a series of impressive goals to advance to the knockout stages of the tournament in Colombia.

The Falconets took control early in the game with three goals in the first half.

Amina Bello opened the scoring in the 16th minute after a setup from Chiamaka Okwuchukwu.

Okwuchukwu then extended the lead with a header in the 28th minute. Flourish Sebastine added the third goal just before halftime, tapping in a rebound in stoppage time.

The team’s performance was capped off by Joy Igbokwe, who scored a stunning long-range goal in the final moments of the match, sealing the 4-0 win.

This victory marked the Falconets’ second win in their Group D campaign, bringing their points total to six, equal to that of Germany. However, due to an inferior head-to-head record and goal difference, Nigeria finished in second place in the group.

The Falconets are set to face the top-ranked team from Group E, which will be determined by the final matches between Japan and Austria. The Round of 16 clash is scheduled for September 13.
