More reactions trail Ngelale’s resignation as Tinubu’s spokesman
The resignation of Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, has sparked a wave of reactions across social media platforms, particularly on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Ngelale announced on September 7, 2024, that he would be taking an indefinite leave of absence to address urgent medical matters affecting his immediate family.
In addition to stepping down from his media advisory role, Ngelale also resigned from his position as the Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action.
Ngelale’s announcement has drawn mixed reactions from Nigerians, with many expressing their views on his decision.
Some users have extended their well wishes, understanding the complexities and demands of his roles, while others have speculated about the underlying reasons for his resignation.

One user, Jaypee, supported Ngelale’s decision, describing it as a prudent move given the challenges of his assignments.
He noted that the pressures associated with such high-profile roles could be overwhelming, especially when personal and family health issues are involved.
Former Kaduna Senator Shehu Sani also weighed in, offering a more lighthearted perspective on Ngelale’s resignation. He suggested that Ngelale could now “rest well, sleep well, eat well, switch off his phone, and even add some weight.”
Sani’s comment highlights the intense demands of serving in such a critical position within the government, where constant availability and high levels of stress are often the norm.
Joe Abah, a former Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), shared his thoughts on Ngelale’s departure, emphasizing his positive interactions with him.
Abah described Ngelale as “approachable and helpful,” particularly in his role as the Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action. “Ajuri Ngelale has stepped down from his government roles for personal and family reasons. I always found him to be approachable and helpful, particularly in his climate envoy role. I wish him well,” Abah wrote on X.

Ngelale’s departure from these prominent roles has prompted discussions about the pressures faced by those in public office, as well as the importance of prioritizing personal and family well-being.
Ngelale, who played a significant role in shaping the administration’s media strategy and climate initiatives, has left a lasting impression on many Nigerians.
As he steps back to focus on his family, his contributions to the government and his approachable nature will be remembered by those who interacted with him.
The Presidency has expressed its understanding and support for Ngelale’s decision, offering prayers and well-wishes for his family’s recovery and privacy during this challenging time.
