Eguavoen clarifies resignation rumor, remains Super Eagles coach
Interim Super Eagles coach Austin Eguavoen has dispelled rumors of his resignation from the position.
Following reports suggesting that he planned to step down after the conclusion of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Eguavoen clarified that his comments were taken out of context.
Speaking to sports journalists upon the team’s return to Nigeria, Eguavoen explained that he had merely stated his intention to discuss his future with the Nigeria Football Federation leadership after the qualifiers.

He emphasized that he remains the Technical Director of the NFF and is still in charge of the Super Eagles.
The Eagles currently lead Group D in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign and will face Libya in their next match in October.
