Pakistan condemns Israel’s move to dismantle UNRWA operations
Pakistan has condemned Israel’s recent law prohibiting the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) from operating in Israeli territory. The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs described this move as a violation of international law and a systematic effort to deny humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.
Pakistan has strongly condemned Israel’s recent attempt to dismantle the operations of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday evening, the government characterized this action as a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter.
The ministry highlighted that preventing UNRWA from fulfilling its essential humanitarian role is part of Israel’s systematic campaign to deny much-needed aid to the Palestinian people.
“This latest step is yet another manifestation of Israel’s disregard for humanitarian obligations,” the statement read.
Pakistan called on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to hold Israel accountable for its actions and to protect UNRWA’s mandate as outlined in UN General Assembly Resolution 302 (IV) of 1949.
The ministry emphasized that Israel’s actions reflect a calculated effort to deny vital aid, especially to those in Gaza.
In light of the ongoing humanitarian crisis, Pakistan reiterated its call for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza, urging for uninterrupted humanitarian assistance to alleviate the suffering of the population.

Earlier on Monday, the Israeli parliament, known as the Knesset, passed a law that prohibits UNRWA from operating within Israeli territory.
According to reports from Israel’s state-owned Kan TV News, the law received overwhelming support, passing with 92 votes in favor out of 120, despite opposition from the United States and several European nations.
The legislation explicitly bars UNRWA from providing services or conducting any activities within Israel.
