Chaos erupts at PDP Headquarters as fight breaks out over National Secretary Position
A violent altercation broke out on Wednesday at the headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), during a meeting of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT).
The confrontation stemmed from a heated dispute between two prominent party figures, Samuel Anyanwu and Sunday Ude-Okoye, who were vying for the position of National Secretary.
The altercation unfolded when Sunday Ude-Okoye, a well-known party chieftain, was forcefully ejected from the meeting by suspected thugs.
Ude-Okoye had arrived at the venue of the meeting before Anyanwu and the acting National Chairman, Ambassador Iliya Damagum. However, upon Anyanwu’s arrival, Ude-Okoye was reportedly pushed out of the gathering, sparking a confrontation.

The situation quickly escalated as both sides exchanged words, drawing attention from those present at the meeting. The presence of suspected thugs raised further tensions, with several party members caught in the middle of the fray.
This altercation comes amid intense competition for the position of National Secretary of the PDP, with Ude-Okoye and Anyanwu both fiercely contesting the role. The fight at the BoT meeting underscores the growing divisions within the party as the two factions’ battle for control and influence within the party structure.
The incident has cast a shadow over the ongoing proceedings and raised concerns about the level of internal strife within the PDP as it prepares for future political challenges.
