Other People’s Generosity
Often, I tell people that “I am the product of other people’s generosity.” I would not be where I am if several people, including my parents, had not contributed to my life. Their investment and interest in my life and my well-being, alongside God’s special grace, are the factors that have placed me where I am today.
In essence, there would be no Leymah if there weren’t the many individuals who poured into my life. Prayers, resources, emotional energy—the list goes on. No one can say their life is void of other people’s generosity. I believe every living being has, at one point or another, had someone pour something into their lives. Some folks often say, “I pulled myself up on my bootstrap” or “I did it myself, and no one helped me.” I find it difficult to believe that anyone does life alone, let alone garner progress individually.
What is required of us as the products of other people’s generosity?
We must give back! Not necessarily to those who helped us; we must invest in assisting others to get to their God-destined future. As we navigate this new week, let’s all take a moment to reflect on all those fantastic folks who poured into our lives without holding back and say a little prayer of gratitude to God for them.
