Environment Commissioner explains perennial flooding in Lagos
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Lagos State, Tokunbo Wahab, on Wednesday, explained the perennial flooding in the state, and the difficulty to tackle it with urgency.
He noted that Lagos State is below sea level, causing the storm water not to be cleared easily after rainfall.
According to Wahab @tokunbo_wahab
“I made it clear during the interview with @tvcnewsng Your View that Lagos has a lot of environmental challenges, we are a tiny state that houses 10% of the nation population.

“We are below sea level; when it rains, the tidal level goes up and the storm water cannot clear up easily.
“This is flash flooding and it eases off after an hour or two. It is not something to sensationalize, it is just the reality we face as a state bordered by the ocean.
“We are not where we want to be but we are not idle. We work round the clock to engage and make the situation better.”
