Zenith Bank Plc has celebrated its 35th anniversary with a grand commemorative event held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Friday, August 15, 2025.

The event, which brought together top government officials, captains of industry, traditional rulers, partners, staff, and friends of the bank, highlighted the institution’s remarkable journey of growth, innovation, and resilience since its establishment in May 1990.

In a symbolic gesture of appreciation, the bank honoured its earliest customers and long-serving employees who played key roles in its rise to prominence as one of Africa’s leading financial institutions.

Dame Dr. Adaora Umeoji, OON, Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank Plc, in her keynote address, reaffirmed the bank’s enduring commitment to excellence and innovation in service delivery.

“Our success has been built on the trust of our customers and the dedication of our staff. Today, we not only celebrate 35 years of growth and excellence, but also the people who made this possible,” she said.

Founder and Chairman of Zenith Bank, Mr. Jim Ovia, CFR, applauded the bank’s journey, stressing that its consistent impact and reputation reflect decades of discipline, innovation, and customer trust.

The occasion was graced by eminent personalities including the Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON—himself a Zenith Bank alumnus—alongside Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa; Taraba State Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas; Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Zulum; Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, GCON; and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.

Also in attendance were former governors Peter Obi of Anambra State and Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State, both long standing friends of the bank, with Emmanuel also being a Zenith alumnus.

The evening featured goodwill messages, award presentations, and electrifying musical performances, creating a celebratory atmosphere befitting the milestone.

From humble beginnings in 1990, Zenith Bank has grown into a powerhouse in the African financial services sector, distinguished by its reputation for stability, innovation, and outstanding customer service. Today, it stands as a symbol of resilience, with its 35-year track record reinforcing its leadership in Nigeria’s banking landscape and beyond.
