Court brings forward ruling on Nnamdi Kanu’s No-Case submission to September 26

The Federal High Court in Abuja has rescheduled the ruling on the no-case submission filed by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to Friday, September 26, 2025. The ruling was previously slated for October 10.

Kanu, who is standing trial on terrorism-related charges linked to his campaign for the actualization of Biafra, is challenging the Federal Government’s case against him through a no-case submission—a legal argument that the prosecution has failed to establish sufficient evidence to warrant his defence.

The adjustment in the court’s timetable was confirmed on Monday by Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, who disclosed the development via a post on his X handle.

“The scheduled ruling on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s no-case submission has been abridged from 10th October 2025 to Friday, 26th September 2025,” Ejimakor wrote.

A court notification sighted on the matter indicated that if either party wishes to seek a postponement, a formal application must be filed without delay. The court further stressed that any such application relying on factual grounds must be supported with verifiable proof.

The upcoming ruling is seen as a critical stage in Kanu’s protracted legal battle with the Federal Government. A decision in his favour could see the case dismissed, while an adverse ruling would require him to enter a defence against the charges.
