Cubana Chief Priest says Tinubu still doubts him over Peter Obi support
Nigerian socialite and businessman Cubana Chief Priest has claimed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu does not fully trust him because of his past support for Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election.
The celebrity barman, whose real name is Pascal Okechukwu, made the remarks during a livestream session with streamer Peller in a video that surfaced online on Wednesday.
Speaking partly in pidgin English, Cubana Chief Priest suggested that the president still views him with suspicion because he previously campaigned for Obi and the Labour Party.

“President Bola Tinubu no really trust me as an Igbo man that I am. He look me with one eye because he believes that this one that worked for Peter Obi before at the last election,” he said.
The businessman, who now serves as the Imo State Coordinator of the Pro-Tinubu City Boys Movement, explained that he later switched political allegiance because he did not want to remain on the losing side.
Asked why he left Obi’s camp, he replied, “Because I don’t want to lose again because they say first fool no be fool, na the second fool be proper fool.”
Cubana Chief Priest also dismissed Obi’s chances ahead of the 2027 presidential election, describing the former Anambra governor as “not serious” while insisting that “the serious people will win.”
The comments have since sparked mixed reactions online, with some critics accusing the socialite of political opportunism, while supporters argued that his remarks reflect the realities of Nigerian politics.
Before the 2023 elections, Cubana Chief Priest was among several entertainers who openly supported Obi and the Labour Party. He has since aligned himself with the ruling All Progressives Congress and President Tinubu.
The socialite recently obtained an APC House of Representatives nomination form but later withdrew from the race on the day of the party’s primary election.
