The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned the technical failure recorded at the Federal Staff Clinic Polling Unit in Gwarinpa, describing the development as a clear case of voter disenfranchisement.

The party’s reaction followed reports that voters at the polling unit were unable to cast their ballots after the accreditation machine deployed for the exercise malfunctioned.

The glitch reportedly stalled the verification process, leaving several eligible voters stranded and uncertain about their ability to participate in the election.

Eyewitness accounts indicated that the faulty device disrupted the smooth flow of the voting process, causing delays and heightening tensions among residents who had turned out early to exercise their civic responsibility. Some voters were said to have waited for extended periods in anticipation of a resolution.

In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, ADC stressed that elections must be conducted in a manner that is free, fair, transparent, and accessible to all citizens.

The party warned that technical lapses, if not swiftly addressed, could erode public trust in the credibility of the electoral process.

The opposition party called on electoral authorities to immediately repair or replace the malfunctioning accreditation machine to ensure that all affected voters are given the opportunity to cast their ballots without further delay.

It urged officials to act decisively to prevent the incident from undermining the integrity of the exercise.

Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding democratic principles, ADC maintained that every vote must count and vowed to continue monitoring the situation to ensure that no voter is denied the right to participate due to technical setbacks.
