Air Peace suspends flights as aviation unions block Lagos, Abuja terminals
Air Peace Limited has announced temporary disruptions to its flight operations following the ongoing industrial action by aviation unions and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), which has resulted in the blockade of entrances to major airport terminals in Lagos and Abuja.
The airline, in a statement issued by its management, said members of the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), the NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) had picketed its operations as part of the ongoing industrial action.
According to Air Peace, the action has restricted access to its departure terminals at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1, comprising the Alpha and Zulu terminals, as well as Terminal 2 in Lagos.
The airline also disclosed that access to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport terminal in Abuja had been similarly affected.
Air Peace said the blockade had made it impossible for scheduled flights to depart from Lagos and Abuja, resulting in significant disruptions for passengers travelling across its network.
“The ongoing industrial action has resulted in the barricading of the entrances to our departure terminals at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 (Alpha and Zulu Terminals) and Terminal 2 in Lagos, as well as the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Terminal in Abuja,” the airline said.

The carrier explained that the restricted access had prevented the departure of scheduled flights from the two major airports, leaving a number of passengers stranded or unable to proceed with their travel plans.
Air Peace expressed regret over the development, apologising to passengers affected by the disruption and stressing that the situation was beyond the airline’s control.
“Air Peace sincerely apologises to all affected and stranded passengers for the disruption and inconvenience caused by circumstances beyond the airline’s control,” the statement said.
The airline further disclosed that passengers scheduled to travel later in the day were being contacted and provided with updates on the status of their flights as developments unfold.
It assured passengers that its management was closely monitoring the industrial action and would continue to provide updates as the situation evolved.
The disruption comes amid the ongoing industrial action by aviation unions, which has affected airport operations and raised concerns over the movement of passengers across the country.
Air Peace urged its passengers to remain patient and understanding while efforts continue to navigate the disruption.
