Benin writers society hails Alenkhe’s appointment as EBS Managing Director

The Benin Writers Society has congratulated  Comrade Festus Alenkhe on his appointment as the substantive Managing Director of the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS), describing the appointment as recognition of professionalism, hard work and leadership.

In a statement signed by its President, Douglas Ogbankwa, Esq., on September 22, 2026, the society commended Alenkhe for what it described as his significant contributions to the turnaround of the state-owned broadcaster.

The society said Alenkhe had demonstrated “tremendous grit, professionalism and uncommon leadership” in managing the affairs of EBS, adding that his reform-oriented approach had contributed to the broadcaster’s renewed visibility and operations.

According to the Benin Writers Society, EBS has returned to terrestrial television, while its radio operations have recorded renewed activity. It also attributed improvements in content quality, signal strength and public engagement to the reforms undertaken under Alenkhe’s leadership.

The society noted that the broadcaster now provides live coverage of news and events, describing the development as a significant milestone in the history of the state-owned media organisation.

It also highlighted Alenkhe’s career progression within the broadcasting industry, particularly his work on the crime-focused programme “Crime Watch,” which it described as a flagship programme that helped establish his professional reputation.

The writers’ body further commended Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for confirming Alenkhe as substantive Managing Director, describing the appointment as recognition of his performance at the broadcaster.

The society expressed confidence that Alenkhe’s substantive appointment would provide an opportunity for further innovation and development at EBS.

“We have no doubt that his confirmation as Managing Director will usher in even greater innovation and excellence for the State broadcaster,” the statement said.

The Benin Writers Society wished Alenkhe a successful and impactful tenure, while urging him to build on the progress recorded by the broadcaster.
