2027: Adeyanju predicts Tinubu will defeat Atiku, win 25% votes in every state
Human rights lawyer and activist, Deji Adeyanju, has predicted that President Bola Tinubu will defeat former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar in the January 16, 2027 presidential election.
Adeyanju, in a post on X on Friday, claimed that Tinubu would secure at least 25 per cent of the votes cast in every state of the federation, including Adamawa, Anambra, Kano and Oyo.
Atiku is the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The activist lawyer argued that no other presidential candidate could match Tinubu’s projected nationwide voting strength, although he suggested that northern Nigeria remained a region where the opposition could make significant gains.
“I see Tinubu defeating Atiku in January because of many reasons, but let me highlight only one today. Tinubu will get 25% votes in every state in Nigeria, including Adamawa, Anambra, Kano and Oyo. No other candidate can pull such numbers. Read this carefully again,” Adeyanju wrote.

He added: “It’s only northern Nigeria we should be expecting miracle from. And they have the capacity to do so.”
Adeyanju’s prediction comes as political parties and their candidates intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Tinubu is expected to face opposition from Atiku and other contenders, including Peter Obi, who is associated with the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in the account provided.
The coming election is expected to generate intense debate over the administration’s economic policies, particularly the removal of the petrol subsidy, foreign exchange reforms, inflation and the rising cost of living.
Atiku has repeatedly criticised several policies of the Tinubu administration, with the removal of the petrol subsidy among the issues attracting strong opposition.
Adeyanju’s projection remains a political prediction, with the eventual outcome dependent on voters’ decisions and the conduct of the election.
Under Nigeria’s presidential election rules, a candidate must secure the highest number of votes cast and at least 25 per cent of the votes cast in at least two-thirds of the states and the Federal Capital Territory to be elected president.
Tinubu’s ability to meet that requirement nationwide, as projected by Adeyanju, will be determined by the results of the 2027 presidential election.
