Fulani herdsmen, not IS behind Benue Killings, says Fani-Kayode
Femi Fani-Kayode, a relentless critic of the incumbent Federal Government, has pooh-poohed a Department of State Security intelligence report which claimed some fighters of the Islamic State in West Africa, ISWA, had been arrested in Kogi and Benue states.
Recall that Security service organisations, including the Department of State Service (DSS), reportedly identified an Islamic State in West Africa (ISWA) network operating within some north-central and south-south states.
The report indicated that ISWA network was using foreign militants and recruiting young men to fight and kill innocent persons ostensibly to exacerbate tensions along the county’s ethnic, religious and regional fault lines.
The source was quoted as saying among those in custody were many who spoke none of the languages native to Nigeria but the French language.
The source said a “good number”of the Islamic State militants had been arrested not only in the Benue valley but significantly in several towns in Edo, specifically in Akoko-Edo, Okpella and Benin as well as in Okene, in Kogi.

However, Fani-Kayode tweeted on Monday that the DSS report “is false”. He said rather “the Fulani terrorists and Miyetti Allah”.
“Through leaked intelligence reports the DSS claims that a group they describe as ISWA (Islamic State In West Africa) is responsible for the genocide and ethnic cleansing going on in our country today. This is false. Those behind it are the Fulani terrorists and Miyetti Allah”, said Fani-Kayode, a former minister of culture, and, later, aviation.
He further alleged the country had been subjected to “Islamic terrorism, penury, poverty, shame and bondage”.
“Our struggle for freedom and emancipation must continue until every single Nigerian, regardless of faith or tribe, is truly liberated and completely free.
“The people of Nigeria are being subjected to nothing less than Islamist terrorism in its full manifestation whilst living in penury, poverty, shame and bondage. Satanic cattle, herded by demonic and genocidal psychopaths and sociopaths, infest and plague our land whilst we remain shackled and enslaved by the cruel and unrelenting chains of our internal colonial masters and feudal lords.”
Fani-Kayode, who is a member of the out-of-power Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is facing multiple corruption charges.
