Mikel sets for Fenerbahce move
John Obi Mikel could be set for a move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce before the close of this January transfer window National Daily gathered.
The 30-year-old Super Eagles skipper has been linked with the Istanbul side in the past, and Sporx reports that the player’s management team has been looking into securing a move to the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium National Daily learnt.
Mikel is currently on the books of Chinese side Tianjin TEDA, having completed his first Chinese Super League (CSL) season a couple of months back.
This could be a fine career move for the Nigerian midfielder, who will want to have competitive football before leading the Super Eagles in their World Cup campaign in Russia.
Fenerbahce are currently in a tight race for the Super Lig title in Turkey, three points behind behind log leaders Istanbul Basaksehir, with Galatasaray also in contention.
The ‘Yellow Canaries’ currently have Africans Nabil Dirar, Aatif Chahechouhe and Carlos Kameni in their first-team squad.
