Abducted commissioner threatened Niger gov over ransom for his release
The Niger commissioner kidnappers released Thursday was a mixed bag of appreciation and bravado as he narrated his ordeal in the hands of the bandits that snatched him from his family days ago.
Muhammad Idris, commissioner for information and strategy, first threatened resignation had Gov Abubakar Sani paid a ransom for his freedom.
Thanking the governor for maintaining the policy of paying no ransom to kidnappers, Idris said his release was as a result prayers, good wishes, and courage.
He spent about five days with his abductors before he was released.
While narrating his ordeal in the hands of the bandits, he said that he had committed everything to God and resolved that a ransom will not be paid.
He appreciated the Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello for maintaining the policy of non-ransom payment to bandits.

According to him, he remained resolute amidst the bandits’ effort to break him. And after lengthy discussion, the abductors released him.
He was happy on his coming back to his Minna house where he was manhandled before his daughter.
